ABOUT THE HOUSE
Where Kashmiriyat becomes couture.
At Samina & Sophiya Khan, we celebrate Kashmiriyat-
a feeling shaped by familiarity, tradition, and an ardent love for our culture.
We honour this spirit in every piece we create,
through pure fabrics and the karigari that has shaped our identity from the beginning.
Because we believe every garment should outlive seasons.
It should be worn, loved, and eventually passed down-
an heirloom for the next generation.
That is the heart of our house:
the purity of fabric, the purity of craft,
and pieces made to endure.
CRAFT & PROCESS
Art of Tilla
At the core of the brand is Tilla - Kashmir’s most iconic embroidery, crafted in fine gold and silver threads. Each motif is embroidered by hand, requiring immense precision and expertise, a technique passed down through generations of Kashmiri artisans.Traditionally used in phirans and ceremonial attire, Tilla continues to be the brand’s signature. At Samina & Sophiya Khan, it is preserved in its authenticity yet adapted into new forms, making it both historic and contemporary.
Fusion of Textile
The label’s design language is built on a unique dialogue: Kashmiri embroidery paired with India’s diverse fabrics. Banarasi silks, Jamdani weaves, Patola patterns, and Muga silks are brought together with Kashmiri Tilla to create couture that celebrates India’s rich textile heritage. This fusion ensures that every piece carries the essence of Kashmir while embracing the vibrance of Indian craft traditions.

The Founders
The house began in 1996 with Samina Khan, whose work was grounded in preserving Kashmir’s hand-embroidery traditions.
She introduced women across the valley to the beauty of pure Indian weaves, blending them with Kashmiri artistry in a way that felt familiar yet entirely fresh.
Through her exhibitions and revival work, she shaped a distinct language of clothing built on honest materials, meticulous craft, and an understanding of how heritage can be worn.
In 2016, her daughter Sophiya Khan joined the atelier, carrying the legacy forward with a contemporary eye.
She expanded the house’s vision by creating silhouettes that bridge tradition and modern design.
Together, they continue to define a house that stays true to its roots while evolving with the women who wear it.
